Ballet dancers and Musicians, Actors and Sports Enthusiasts; impressive grades for students this GCSE Results Day

Another day of celebrations at Worksop College as the latest cohort of GCSE students receive their results. With grade boundaries adjusted to pre-pandemic levels, Worksop College pupils have not been phased, with a significant portion exceeding their anticipated grades. Being a broad-ability school that celebrates different skills and abilities, achieving such impressive results is quite the accomplishment.

A proud moment for Max (left) who achieved an impressive string of 9s, 8s, 7s and A*s. He will be using these results to pursue his dreams in theatre, as he heads to Tring Park School for The Performing Arts. Classmate Jacob (middle) was over-the-moon as he opened his results to see As, 9s, 8s and 6s. The results set him up nicely for returning to the college to study Geography, Computer Science and Biology at A Level. Giles (right) was also thrilled with his results, having received A*, 8s and 7s, surpassing all his predicted grades.

Aspiring ballet dancer, Laurena, opened that highly anticipated envelope to 9s, 8s, 7s, 6, 5, and an A; no mean feat considering all her spare time is spent in the studio. As she continues pursuing her career in dance, Laurena will be joining the Sixth Form to study Maths, Biology, Chemistry and Physics. Another keen performer is Christian, who has completed his studies alongside winning national awards for playing the marimba, a percussion instrument. He will be taking his A Levels in English Literature, History and Classical Civilisation.

The school was packed with relieved pupils, proud parents, and happy teachers. Daniel’s mum was delighted with his A*s, 8s, 7s, 6 and 5, which well exceeded his targets. He will be using these results to join the Sixth Form to study Biology, Chemistry and Geography. Joining him in the Sixth Form is Max, who also achieved impressive results – As, 8s, 7s, and 6s.

Best friends Grace, Jessica, and Kosi came together to celebrate their fantastic achievements. Grace (left) achieved 9’s, 8’s, 7s, As and a 6 and has chosen to study Chemistry, Biology and PE at A Level, which coincide with her ambitions of playing Hockey. Alongside her studies, Grace involves herself in every aspect of school life, from DofE expeditions to being part of the CCF. “I’m looking forward to starting in the Sixth Form,” she told us. “I hope to continue with my co-curricular activities as well as learning more about my favourite subjects.”

Rightfully proud, Headmaster John Price said:

“I am thrilled for all our GCSE students on what is a nerve-wracking day for them. They have worked exceptionally hard to get such impressive results – many of them getting higher than they were targeted. I’d like to thank all the staff at Worksop College who have helped get these pupils to where they are today. I’m looking forward to welcoming them back in September, when they will begin their A Levels alongside many new classmates.”
